LOLA, THE DOG WHO SAVED MY LIFE

LOLA, THE DOG WHO SAVED MY LIFE

People always talk about dogs saving lives in dramatic ways — pulling someone out of a burning building or barking to warn about danger. My dog, Lola, saved my life too, but in a way no one would ever write a headline about.

When I turned 65, my life fell apart. I lost my job, and my husband of 30 years cheated on me and left for someone half my age. My kids told me it was my fault, saying I let myself go over the years. I was completely alone.

One freezing night, I heard a whimper under my car. A tiny puppy was curled up against the tire, shaking, trying to stay warm. I wasn’t planning to keep her — I could barely care for myself. But when I looked into her big, trusting eyes, I couldn’t let her go.

I named her Lola after my late mom, who always kept me strong. And somehow, this little furball became my rock. When I couldn’t get out of bed, she nudged me until I got up. When I cried, she sat beside me, her paw on my lap, as if to say, I’m here.

She’s my best friend in every way. She doesn’t care that I’m not perfect or still figuring out how to rebuild my life. All she cares about is that I’m here with her.

Lola didn’t just save my life that cold winter night. She saves me every single day. ❤️🐾
